Dear President Trump!

Let me express my gratitude to you for your deeply humane proposal to provide Gazans with the opportunity to relocate from a devastated territory of Gaza to more favorable for life areas. The reason for writing this letter is the shocking worldwide criticism of this your proposal by the leadership of many countries, like UK, France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, etc. which insist that the Palestinians should be locked in a destroyed Gaza. This inhumane indifference of the named European countries to the wellbeing of millions of the Palestinians is impossible to comprehend.

And in the same way it is impossible to understand global indifference in relation to ensuring the Palestinians' fundamental human rights. As a human rights defender with half a century of experience in the USSR and then in New Russia, I have repeatedly over the past year addressed to various “defenders of the Palestinians” with an appeal: “Please, consider the Palestinians as Human Beings, not as a tool or raw material in the fanatical fight with Israel of some countries and terrorist groups.” (see some links below).

Unfortunately, all such calls are in vain, the "defenders of the Palestinian cause" continue to ignore:

- the most brutal violations of the rights of the Palestinians by their terrorist leadership, as it was during the years of Hamas' ruthless control of Gaza,

- the poisoning of the souls of Palestinian children with hatred of Jews in the PNA schools,

- as well as the decades-long violation of the right to full-citizenship of millions of distant descendants of the Palestinian refugees, who are denied this right by the Arab countries in which not only these descendants themselves were born, but also their parents and even grandparents.

This is how living people are sacrificed to ideology, to “Great Goals”. I was born in the USSR in 1939 and I know well how it happens when tens of millions perished on the altar of communism. The Palestinians are also sacrificed to the abstract idea of "Palestinian statehood". And most depressing is that this communist-like approach of sacrificing people for the sake of an idea is being repeated today by the leaders of seemingly civilized European countries.

Dear President Trump, I also thank you for your desire to stop this terrible Slavic self-destruction — the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, by insisting on a ceasefire and negotiations based on a willingness to mutual territorial compromises. This approach seems to be the only way to stop the current carnage. Let's pray it works!
